Acceptable Use Policy

This policy applies to all Terava partners, resellers, and their downstream customers.
1.Introduction
Terava provides messaging services for legitimate business communications. All reseller partners and their customers must comply with applicable laws, carrier requirements, industry standards, and this policy. Failure to comply may result in traffic restrictions, campaign suspension, account suspension, route termination, or permanent service removal.
Reseller partners are responsible for ensuring that all downstream customers comply with these requirements.
2.Approved Use Cases
The Terava SMS Platform may be used for legitimate business communications, including:
- Customer service communications
- Account alerts and notifications
- Appointment reminders
- Order and delivery updates
- Two-way customer support
- Authentication and verification messages
- Customer engagement communications
- Marketing campaigns where appropriate consent has been obtained
- Business communications with existing customers
3.Consent Requirements
Customers are responsible for obtaining and maintaining any consent required by applicable law, regulation, or carrier policy. Where applicable:
- Recipients must have consented to receive messages
- Consent records must be maintained
- Consent records must be provided upon request
- Opt-out requests must be honored promptly
- Marketing communications must comply with applicable carrier and regulatory requirements
Terava may request proof of consent at any time.
4.OTP and Verification Traffic
Authentication and verification traffic must:
- Originate from the authorized business or application
- Use verification codes generated for the intended recipient
- Accurately identify the service associated with the verification request
- Comply with all applicable carrier and regulatory requirements
Terava reserves the right to suspend verification traffic that presents indicators of abuse, unauthorized brand usage, deceptive activity, or other compliance concerns.
5.US Messaging Requirements (10DLC)
Many SMS campaigns directed to US recipients require registration under the US 10DLC framework. Terava can assist customers and reseller partners with:
- Brand Registration
- Campaign Registration
- Marketing Campaign Approval
- Customer Service Campaign Registration
- Authentication / OTP Campaign Registration
- Compliance Review Prior to Launch
Customers must not launch US marketing campaigns until applicable registration requirements have been satisfied. If you are unsure whether your campaign requires registration, contact Terava before sending.
6.Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
Fraud and Deception
- Fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading content
- False or misleading claims
- Social engineering activities
- Phishing attempts
- Identity theft activities
- Any activity intended to deceive recipients
Impersonation
- Impersonating any person, company, organization, government entity, financial institution, healthcare provider, or brand
- Unauthorized use of third-party names, trademarks, brands, identities, or services
- Misrepresenting the sender's identity or affiliation
Spam and Unsolicited Messaging
- Unsolicited bulk messaging
- Spam
- Messaging without required recipient consent
- High-volume messaging designed to evade carrier policies
- Traffic generating excessive complaints or opt-outs
Financial and Investment Abuse
- Investment fraud
- Get-rich-quick schemes
- Advance-fee fraud
- Unlicensed financial services
- Deceptive financial promotions
- Loan, funding, or investment solicitations sent without required consent
Employment and Recruitment Abuse
- Fraudulent employment opportunities
- Misleading recruitment campaigns
- Unrealistic earnings claims
- Task-based employment scams
- Any deceptive work-from-home or remote job promotions
Platform Evasion
- Directing recipients to alternative platforms for the purpose of avoiding monitoring, compliance controls, or carrier oversight
- Attempts to conceal sender identity
- Attempts to bypass carrier, provider, or regulatory requirements
Illegal Activities
- Any unlawful activity
- Promotion of illegal products or services
- Content prohibited by applicable law
- Activity that may expose Terava, carriers, providers, or recipients to legal or regulatory risk
7.High-Risk Traffic
Certain use cases may require additional review, approval, documentation, or registration before sending, including:
- Financial services
- Lending and funding
- Cryptocurrency services
- Insurance
- Healthcare-related messaging
- Employment and recruitment campaigns
- Government-related messaging
- Large-scale marketing campaigns
- Other traffic identified as high-risk by Terava or its providers
Terava reserves the right to request additional documentation or deny approval for any use case.
8.Traffic Monitoring
To protect platform integrity and comply with carrier requirements, Terava and its upstream providers may monitor message content, traffic patterns, delivery activity, complaint activity, opt-out activity, campaign behavior, sender reputation, and compliance-related information. Monitoring may be conducted for fraud prevention, abuse detection, security, carrier compliance, regulatory compliance, service quality, and platform protection.
9.Enforcement
Terava reserves the right to take action whenever traffic presents legal, compliance, operational, reputational, or carrier-related risk. Actions may include compliance review, campaign suspension, sender suspension, DID suspension, customer suspension, reseller suspension, route restrictions, route termination, or permanent account termination. These actions may be taken with or without prior notice.
10.Partner Responsibilities
Reseller partners are responsible for:
- Communicating these requirements to all customers
- Ensuring customers maintain required consent records
- Ensuring customers complete required campaign registrations
- Responding promptly to compliance inquiries
- Investigating customer activity when requested
- Taking corrective action when violations are identified
Violations committed by downstream customers may result in enforcement actions against the reseller account.
11.Financial Risk and Reserves
Terava reserves the right to impose prepayment requirements, traffic limits, security deposits, rolling reserves, or additional verification requirements where traffic presents elevated operational, financial, compliance, or reputational risk.
